The Welding and Glueing Tool
The method of modeling spot welds has shown to be important in the accuracy of the frequency response analysis in the „mid frequency“ range which is becoming a prime area of interest for many automotive manufacturers. Numerous manual techniques have been developed, each with a varying degree of success.
CDH has developed a fully automated method of generating a reasonably correct approach for modeling the spot welds and joint information. It requires only a minimal amount of user interaction, i.e., defining some key parameters as well as providing a file containing the X, Y, and Z positions of the spot weld. This approach has been tested on several practical models and the results correlated well with the experimental data.
Since its first release, this approach has been widely used in automotive manufactories. Advanced spot weld models, including influence-zone type and multi-layer type, have also been developed by CDH to capture the structural dynamics of spot welds more accurately. These new modeling approaches provide enhanced features to adjust the stiffness of assembled structures. Moreover, Autospot has evolved itself to be capable of modelling various line joints to meet the need of industries for automated modelling processes in the virtual engineering.
