CDH/OPTRAN V6.0
Dear OPTRAN user,
We are pleased to inform you that CDH/OPTRAN Version 6.0 is now available.
The latest CDH/OPTRAN release version offers the following new features and corrections:
1. New Feature Fluid Point Loads:
Fluid point loads are now supported with the FPOINTLOAD entry mentioned in the attached document.
2. New Feature Element Sensitivity:
Element sensitivity calculations are now supported. See the usage manual for equations for Element Sensitivity computations. For usage, please refer to attached document.
3. Enhancements:
- Added support for MSC Nastran 2024.1 and 2024.2
- Support for AMLS5.3r262 and FastFRS2.3r262 (incl. GPU capability)
- Output of separate “violation csv file” in case of request line „output violation“ written in request file.
- New command line keyword “NASTBPOOL” allows changing Nastran buffer pool memory size for the Nastran part of the OPTRAN run
- New command line keyword “NGPU” specifies the number of GPU boards for AMLS and FastFRS. NGPU must be a positive integer. An AMLS and FastFRS GPU enabled licence is required to use GPU boards
- New command line keyword “NCPU” specifies the number of processors for AMLS, FastFRS and OPTRAN. The existing equivalent keyword ‘PARALLEL’ will be deprecated in a near future version.
- Default change: When peaks are chosen in presence of targets (equivalently, the dynamic choice of frequencies at which operational shapes and such are made), the % violation has been used as the criterion on which the violations are ordered and peaks are chosen. The default is now being changed to the absolute violation.
- “OPTRAN elapsed TIME SUMMARY” is output at the end of the optran.log file. This gives an overview of the calculation time.
4. Bug-Fixes:
- SDISP output to csv in case forcing frequencies varied between subcases was incorrect and has been fixed
- Correct parameters now output (out code) for FastFRS in case of B2PP, K2PP for optimized FastFRS performance
- Include files of request file not always respected has been fixed
- Incorrect ordering of peaks in _peaks.csv file in case of a negative target is fixed
- Corrected missing output of fluid mode shapes to op2 of type “x”, in case “output csv” was requested at the same time.
- Autorequest for RANDOM was fixed to account for the fact thatNastran RANDOM case control can reference a set or a RANDPS entry directly. Previous versions do not calculate PSDF if RANDOM points to a RANDPS ID.
- Request file is unable to support ‘include’ for crlf line feed code file has been fixed
5. Supported Nastran versions and CDH Software:
MSC.Nastran
MSC.Nastran Version 2018.2, 2019.0, 2020.1, 2021.4, 2022.3, 2022.4, 2023.4, 2024.1, 2024.2
CDH Software
CDH/AMLS Version 5.3 r262
CDH/FastFRS Version 2.3 r262
Operating System
RHEL/Rocky 8+
6. Cautions – end of support warnings:
- In future releases only the latest sub-version of older Nastran releases will be supported by OPTRAN. For example, for MSC 2022.1 – 2022.4, only the latest sub-version MSC 2022.4 will officially be supported. Please upgrade to these Nastran versions accordingly.
- This is the last OPTRAN release that officially supports MSC Nastran 2018.2, 2019, 2020.1 and 2021.4 by default.
